New Beginnings Game Night

In February we held our annual New Beginnings activity.  This year we mixed things up a bit and had a "Game Night".  Here are the invitations I made up: I left the date, time etc off the template.  Simply place a text box in the open space to add YOUR info. If you would like to download the template for the Game Night invitations click HERE  NOTE: The template is a photo of the tickets, just blow it up so the gray line meets the boarder of your page layout. I made a similar layout for the program that we handed out at New Beginnings. If you would like to download the Game Night program click HERE for the front and HERE for the back side NOTE: I printed the invitations AND the programs on a cream opalescent card stock and it turned out Read more [...]

New Beginnings: An Invitation and Program for Young Women

For everyone in the Young Women's organization New Beginnings is right around the corner.  It is a great time when we welcome new12 year old girls into the Young Women program.  I made up an invitation and program if anyone would like to use it.  When I think of new beginnings and young women, a plants always come to mind.  I incorporataed a tree showing what they could become as they follow the YW program.  A theme from our stake last year was also incorporated into the bottom corner "Live Like You Believe". I made this very inexpensive to reproduce.  I made it all in shades of gray so that it could be printed on your libraries copy machine.  Instead of plain white paper, I suggest (and used) a cream peralescent cardstock.  You can find it at JoAnn's.  It Read more [...]

Pinlight: 2012 Young Women’s Bulletin Board

The Young Women's theme for 2012 is D & C 115:5. "Arise and shine forth that thy light may be a standard to the Nations" This is a mock up of the bulletin board I came up with: (laid out on my black kitchen island. It will look better on the gray/tan board in our class room) Let me break it down for you.  I called it "Pinlight" in refrence to Pinterest.  (If you don't know what Pinterest is, check out a Post I wrote HERE)   I made the board creater Jesus Christ.  He has had aproxamatly 2.2 billion followers (according to Wikipedia) and he follows You (everyone).  To follow him I made social icon buttons for prayer, scripture study, and the temple. I made up around 60 "pins".  Each one has a photo with a label below it.  I used the YW Values, Read more [...]

YW in Excellence

In our church we have a program where the Young Women work on improving themselves.  This month is a night where we honor their success.  It is called Young Women in Excellence.  Here is the layout I've been toying with for our invitations and such.  I wanted it simple, clean and easy to print off on  cardstock.  Our theme is Women Of Virtue and is modeled after a program by Jessica Roberts found on Sugardoodle.  Like Jessica, I chose gold as my accent color since gold represents the value Virtue.  I printed them on pearlescent paper found in an 8 1/2 X 11 pad at JoAnn's. Invitation: Program: (sorry about the watermark) Name Card for the Display Tables: Alternate Name Card with notes from the parents about the YW's accomplishments this year and Read more [...]

Primary Mail

A few years ago I was called to be the Primary Secretary.  What a great calling!  I got to work interact with all of the adorable children but my main job was behind the scenes.  It was the end of the year and I wanted to spice things up for the next year.  My sister in law's ward had been passing out "Primary Mail" and she said it was a great success.  The person who had given a talk that day got to be the Postman and deliver the mail at the end of Sharing Time.  I decided this was it, and with the approval of my President I went for it.  First I went to Archiver's Scrapbook store and purchased a chip board mailbox.  I decorated it with red, yellow and blue paper (Primary colors).  Then it was time to make the mail.  I wanted an old Airmail look.  I got Read more [...]

Bottle Cap Necklaces: 2011 YW Theme

I was called to work with the Young Women of our church last year, just before Christmas.  I knew we needed to think of a cute, inexpensive, and meaningful gift for each girl on their birthday.  I found a bottle cap necklace on Etsy, but they were $8 each.  Very cute, but too expensive.  I did a little research and found that I could make my own for around $1 each!  The following is a tutorial of the best advice I found from many websites including my own trial and errors.  This craft is great for this year for YW in excellence, Christmas presents, or adapted for any program or theme! Supply List:  Cardstock, Bottle Caps, Workable Fixitif, Glossy Accents, Ball and Chain necklaces I purchased everything at JoAnn's except for the bottle caps and necklaces.  Read more [...]

Paper Bag Journals

Paper bag journals are a fun inexpensive craft perfect for trips, camps, or fun summer memories.  My family made these at our summer family reunion in Laguna last year (filled with beachy words, photos from the Hollywood sign, and souvenirs from "Pink's") and the kids from 6 to 15 loved making them.  For YW camp last year they were a hit as well. At a regional camp meeting last year I saw a great journal craft.  I took their idea and put my own twist on it.  It is an inexpensive project and with a lot of prep work, goes very smooth in the woods. Supplies (per journal): 3 lunch bags, folded and pre punched with 5 holes 22" twine, taped on one end for easy threading scrapbook paper pre-cut to fit pages of the journal (16 total, 3 sizes) velum Read more [...]

Girl’s Camp: Prescription Skittles

Our cute camp director last year (Nancy Christiansen) thought up a great idea.  Camp Value Pills (aka Skittles).  They came in value colors and were the perfect pick me up when girls were feeling blue. Nancy bought the pill bottles from a local pharmacy.  I took her text and turned it into a label to resemble real pill bottles.  I made them to fit a standard mailing label that I had on hand (4X2 or 8163). Click HERE for the printable PDF for the labels. If you do not have or do not want to purchase labels, you can print off the paper labels below.  Just cut out on the gray lines and glue to the pill bottles with Rubber Cement. Click HERE for the printable PDF for the cut-able DIY sheet.     Read more [...]
